Dr. Christine LAI, DProf, is a scholar-in-practice and practical theologian. She is concurrently a Research Associate at Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology (MBIT) at Cambridge, Researcher at HK Bioethics Resource Centre, guest Professor at Hong Kong Holy Spirit Seminary College of Theology, Supervisor of DProf at Anglia Ruskin University, Spiritual advisor at Caritas HK and founder of Management of Heart & Associates Consultancy. After her Doctorate of Business Administration on “Social Capital and Trust” and Professional Doctorate of Practical Theology on “Midlife transformation of Christian professionals in HK, evolving a spiritual practice model”, she is now researching on “Spirituality of Ageing and Integral Human Development: an intercultural approach.”

Dr. Lai has presented “Spirituality of Integral Human Development for Ageing: an intercultural dimension” at Oxford McDonald Center of Theology, Ethics and Public Life – virtual Conference on “Ageing, Suffering and Despair – towards health and care.” She has also co-organized between MBIT and HK Yuan Dao study society the first international webinar on “In search of Meaning and Fulfillment through Interreligious Dialogue and Interculturation: Vatican Council II, Pope Francis and Beyond.” Her article developed from DProf thesis will be published at the Theology Annual Journal by Hong Kong Holy Spirit Seminary College of Theology and Philosophy.

Integrating these intellectual capabilities with her thirty years’ practical Human Resources experience in financial and education sector, Dr. Lai has been promoting holistic wellness for midlife to ageing, diversity and everyday life spirituality to professionals and students. She has designed and delivered “Life planning and everyday spirituality” and Spirituality course at Seminary school, “Journey of Spirituality: soul, mind and heart” workshop at churches and contributed article “From Midlife to Ageing: ultimate meanings of life in the days of the Pandemics.” She is the Vice President of HK Yuan Dao study society and founding member and Vice-Chairman (International) of Asia Academy of Practical Theology.
