The Diocesan Certificate of Catholic Studies (DCCS) is run by the MBIT on behalf of the Diocese of East Anglia.
The course is the initiative of Bishop Alan Hopes, who appreciated that it was not possible for all teachers working in catholic schools to gain the CCRS. The course acts as a good introduction to the CCRS, aiming to provide a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Faith and to enable all participants to make an informed contribution to their chosen field of work in the Church. The topics covered are: Old and New Testament, the Person of Christ, the Sacraments, The Church and Catholic Moral Teaching.
There is the possibility of gaining accreditation by completing a 2000 word assignment. All participants receive a certificate of attendance. The course can be run as INSET days for schools or as Twilight sessions.
In June 2020 the DCCS will be presented online over three Wednesday afternoons. This course provides an introduction to the topics covered by the Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies. Those who have completed the course have found it to be a good introduction for teachers, catechists and parishioners wanting to engage in further study.
Certificates of Attendance will be issued to everyone completing the course. It is possible to get accreditation by completing an assignment of 2000 words. Topic to be arranged with the Tutor. (+additional fee £60)
Cost: £40 per afternoon, (Bursaries available) Please apply by emailing email@example.com by May 25th. On payment of fee, joining instructions for the live online sessions and materials will be sent out.
