Lorraine studied the Certificate in Theological and Pastoral Studies.
Studying at Margaret Beaufort in 2004-2005 was an important and enjoyable year. After completing my degree in Biological Sciences at Cambridge, I felt a real desire to study theology in an effort to deepen and mature my faith and knowledge. Margaret Beaufort Institute was the perfect place for me to study in a welcoming, caring environment.
I studied the Certificate in Theology and Pastoral Studies and thoroughly enjoyed the mix of both academic push and pastoral emphasis. The close-knit, family-type atmosphere I enjoyed at the Institute made my time there so special that I will always have fond memories of it.
When I completed my studies I worked for three years as a lay chaplain in a Catholic Sixth Form College in London. This too was an invaluable experience, sharing in the lives of others whilst encouraging and promoting the Catholic faith in the College. I decided to continue my theological studies at Heythrop College, University of London, so that I could teach Religious Studies at secondary school. I am currently teaching both Science and RE; a combination many might now find unusual! For me, that one year of study at the Institute became the start of a journey. It is a place to learn, to reflect, to pray and to deepen your knowledge of yourself. It is an amazing place.
