Prof Susan Docherty
Research Fellows

Prof Docherty joins us as our inaugural Mary Ward Fellow

Her research interests are in early Jewish and early Christian biblical interpretation, especially the re-use of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament in the New Testament. She has also published on the Septuagint, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Apocrypha and the Pseudepigrapha. During my time at MBIT, I will be mainly working on an international project to explore how the Exodus narratives have been interpreted in Jewish and Christian literature throughout the centuries. Our team of researchers hope to draw out from this investigation some theological themes which Christian churches across Europe can apply to their responses to the current  social and political debates about migration and cultural integration. You can find out more about her and her work on the website of Newman University Birmingham, where she is Professor of New Testament and Early Judaism:
